Withdrawal by agreement. Perseverance brings good fortune.
When the time is right for retreat, the wise man recognizes it and there is no need for discussion and disagreement. But he must still adhere firmly to his decision, modifying it only as circumstances change.
His tears flow in torrents. He groans in sorrow. Good fortune. Here the man has reached the high point of his life. At last understanding the vanity of all things. He reviews his situation and soberly regrets whatever he had done wrong in the past
It is quite clear to me that Michael chose to withdraw from public life - under what pressure I am not sure but the time that is pointed out is actually July and August -?? It seems to me that the past was always a concern as to whether it would come up and re-sting his popularity as some people were just not prepared to leave him alone. It still promises good fortune because of course there will be with album sales soaring - but I just see so much in these two verses.
But if he has chosen to stand back he is being told that he needs to continue to do that - perhaps it would be less then wise to do anything else in the current circumstances.
